Commercial Fiber Optic Installation, Splicing & Testing

Fiber backbones inside buildings, between buildings and across campuses, installed and tested by a Corning NPI partner.

When your network has to reach across a large building, between buildings or around a campus, fiber is the backbone that ties it together. SmartComm installs commercial fiber optic infrastructure for Baton Rouge businesses and facilities across the Gulf South. This is business fiber inside and between your buildings, not residential internet service.

What we install

  • Fiber backbones between telecom rooms and floors
  • Building-to-building and campus links, aerial and underground
  • Outside plant design
  • Fusion splicing, termination, enclosures and patch panels
  • Testing and documentation

Corning NPI partner

SmartComm is a Corning Network of Preferred Installers (NPI) partner.

Example

For an industrial fabrication company working out of a three-part warehouse and office, SmartComm ran a fiber backbone that joined all three sections into one high-performance network, alongside new copper cabling, IP cameras and access control.

Frequently asked questions

How is fiber optic cable installed in a commercial building?

Fiber is routed through pathways between telecom rooms, terminated in enclosures and patch panels, and tested end to end before it carries live traffic.

Single-mode or multimode fiber: which do I need?

Multimode is common for shorter runs inside a building. Single-mode carries signals over longer distances, such as between buildings. We'll specify the right type for each link.

Can you connect separate buildings on the same property?

Yes. We design and install building-to-building fiber so multiple buildings share one network.

Do you splice and test fiber?

Yes. We fusion splice and test every strand and provide the results.

Is this the same as fiber internet service?

No. We install the fiber network inside and between your buildings. Your internet provider brings service to the building; we connect everything from there.
